Most shops use the traditional selling approach: steer customers to wine and beer that the proprietors think their customers should buy. These selections, invariably, are their favorites, or are highly profitable, or both. The problem here is obvious: It’s all about them. Unless your tastes closely match theirs, your purchase is a crap shoot, at best.

Who are these people?

We are Ken and Karen, and wine is our passion. But rest assured, we’re not your typical wine people. We have not received formal education or training in vinification or brewing. We have not had the luxury of being able to wander the globe one vineyard or brewery at a time in search of that glorious product of perfect fermentation.

We do have a growing and enduring love of good wine and beer. We have sacrificed long (long!) hours to drinking, one bottle at a time, gamely venturing from one concoction to the next. The big upside to this is that we’ve been exposed to many different kinds of wine and beer. We have had a lot of fun... and along the way, we learned about wine.

We opened East Wake Wines & Craft Brew because we want to share our knowledge and the fruits of our little journey with our new friends and neighbors. (If you’re reading this, that includes you!) We would love nothing more than to inspire others with the spirit of adventure that launched us on our way. We hope to see you at the store soon.
